CCRC 11/10/09

15 11 2009

In CCRC, we discussed the option of expanding the current bus system. We also discussed how the service event went and how we can establish 2 specific service events for MSA, including SWIPES. We want to help MCI out with their event in the future and hopefully involve more of Senate as a whole. We have a meeting with Parking and Transportation this Wednesday. Sheela Lal and Lisa Grelle will be attending it and bringing back information regarding current issues.

CCRC report for 09/03 meeting

8 11 2009

The committee focused the greater part of its attention on Bill 49-23 and it is fully and unanimously opposed to the legislation’s passage.  It is the committee’s opinion that it is not the lack of dedication among senators but rather the absurd length of meetings that has contributed to premature departures.  Senators are students before they are leaders.  Instead of punishing students leaders who leave meetings early to fulfill their duties as students, the Senate ought to consider measures that would limit the number of speeches in favor or in opposition of a bill, the length of these speeches, or the total length of the general session.  CCRC asserts that  Bill 49-23 fails to adequately address the real problem: meetings have been too long.

CCRC Report 10/27/2009

27 10 2009

The committee entertained some preliminary notions regarding changes to the way parking spots are allocated on campus.  Look for the issue to become more prevalent as CCRC continues to work with president-to-be Tim Nocé and director of Parking & Transportation, Jim Joy.

Plans are being finalized for MSA’s service project to help with recycling before the home football game against Baylor on November 7.

21 10 2009

CCRC did not hold a meeting this week because Senate did not meet in general session on Wednesday and a majority of CCRC’s assiduous members were busy making preparations for homecoming week.

Campus and Community Relations Report 10.13.09

18 10 2009

Tim Noce, the unopposed candidate for MSA president, attended the meeting to discuss future goals.  He asked the committee to consider ways to increase cooperation and decrease tensions between greek and non-greek students on campus.  In addition, he addressed students’ desire to know how parking permits are assigned.  MSA has introduced two proposals for tailgating and is continuing to discuss possible solutions with administrators.  Results of a study to determine whether a walking bridge over College Avenue (north of the existing one) is necessary and prudent have not been released yet.

CCRC Report 10.06.09

10 10 2009

There was no legislation to discuss this week.  The committee instead talked about partnering with Sustain Mizzou as a service project to help with recycling before the home football game against Baylor.
